I love a good fruit salad, especially if I add a few nuts to it also. Yours looks very good, I think that I would choose cream for mine.

Can’t beat a good fruit salad, Clare; and yours looks fab! When I was a little younger, the guy who owned the corner shop nearby had just returned from visiting family in Jamaica and gave me a small bottle of white rum. Well, it was closer to yellow, about 90% alcohol and you could strip doors with it. A few capfuls in a fruit salad were just perfect!

Haha! Your fruit salad sounds good! I remember getting more than a little merry on a school trip to Germany. We were invited to a party and there were peaches marinated in some alcoholic substance or other and glasses of wine for us all. A night to remember! 😮

It looks excellent, though it’s perhaps a trifle unfair on those of us who are sitting miles away feeling peckish. 🙂

It would have been a trifle unfair if it had custard on top and jelly underneath?

Oh my! I’m drooling over here, Clare! With temps in the 90’s and oppressive humidity, that’s perfection. And the blackberries…they’re huge! Enjoy! ❤

Thank-you Jill! Our temps are barely getting to 68/70 now and we are having lots of wind and rain. More like autumn really 😦 Cultivated blackberries are huge and I love them! They are much nicer than the wild blackberries from the bramble bushes which have lots of seeds in them.

I would not have thought of putting custard on fresh summer fruit! I investigated and found that it is a popular topping in the States. Something I never knew! We usually put custard (usually warm/hot though I do love cold custard) on pies, puddings and tarts. I also love custard tart – a sweet shortcrust pastry filled with a good egg custard, sprinkled with nutmeg and left to set. Heaven!

What delicious looking berries. You made my mouth water. I myself would like a small touch of sugar sprinkled over and left for an hour to bring out the juices. Then a nice dab of unsweetened fresh whipped cream. I can almost taste it! 🙂 I’m so glad you got to enjoy it!

So delicious! It’s been a good season for berries hasn’t it 🙂 It’s a wonderful time for fruit salad with berries, it still seems strange to me though to have berries available in supermarkets all year round, I don’t think they ever taste as good as they have now, lol

Thank-you, Cat. Yes, berries have been gorgeous this summer! I try not to eat them out of season because they really don’t taste as good.
