I find listening to music such a comfort! It soothes and calms me, it invigorates and excites me, I couldn’t be without it!
I have spent hours this week driving myself, my mother and my daughter to appointments in Norwich. I am tired and recovering from a head-cold and a migraine and would like to write a post but haven’t the energy or the time.
Here are some pieces of music inspired by the month, the season and or the weather. Some are long pieces and some are short; some are classical pieces and some are not. I hope you enjoy listening to them.

I just knew I would enjoy your music collection, Clare. Never before have I listened to a whole set in total, as I did with this one. You didn’t disappoint. I spotted a few stars not all of whom I could name now. I don’t think I’d want to listen to the Fleet Foxes with a headache. I hope yours has subsided by now.

A great idea Clare and a wide selection. I especially love the Debussy piece. His ‘Children’s Corner’ is new to me. Very atmospheric and expressive like a French Impressionist painting. It would have fitted my recent ‘winter’ post admirably. I hope the music has cleared the migraine and cold.

I love the Cape Breton Waltz! It was playing on the radio the other morning as I returned from taking my daughter to the station and it made me decide on this music post. I have one of Helicon’s CDs from the 90’s and I see they are still available.

I used to work for a lady who had migraines, so I do hope you’re over yours.
It’s very rare when I’m outside of work and there isn’t music playing. I’ve always loved it so I thank you for these. The Genesis song was quite a surprise. I thought I’d heard everything by them!

I am completely better thank you. Allen. I used to have so many Genesis albums but they all went missing after one of our house moves (along with many other albums of favourite bands). This track is from ‘And Then There Were Three’ from 1978.

Wonderful, Clare. I don’t know where I’d be without music. Need to find out more about Kristina Train and the Fleet Foxes. Did you ever come across Tomita and ‘Snowflakes are Dancing’? – it got me into Debussy and it’s terrific! I hope you feel better soon, Clare. I suffer from migraines so know what you’re going through, and it’s no fun to have a cold on top of it. Good choice of music and thanks for the intro to Kristina Train. I came across the Fleet Foxes years ago on the Black Cab sessions. I loved your selection of music Clare, I pressed on more than one as I scrolled through and listing to two play at the same time is another experience… but I like that when I did press on one at time though it made me want to dance, especially the last Pink Panther piece, music is a powerful tonic. x

Thank you, Ste J. The migraines turn up every couple of months and it takes me a couple of days to recover and I just put up with them. The cold is much better I’m glad to say.
I’m pleased you liked the music, including the Pink Panther (which I chose as an afterthought because it was set in a ski resort!)

I feel exactly the same way about music. Loved listening to your selections. The last, from the Pink Panther, made me smile. I remember that song from the movie, even though I was very young when it came out. I guess the snappiness of the music made an impression on my young mind.

Thank you, Laurie. We are of an age, you and I and though I don’t remember the film coming out (we didn’t go to the cinema very often) the Pink Panther films were shown regularly on TV during the 70’s, usually on weekend afternoons when I should have been doing my homework!

Thank you, Simon. 🙂 I think things will begin to calm down a little from now on. Mum has had both her cataract eye operations done now, though I still need to take her for her final check-up this week. I have the pleasure of a visit to the dentist today, Joy of joys!

There was only a few days of snow in my area this winter. That’s unusual.
Usually you can really do winter sports here.

I hope you are feeling better now and looking forward to March just around the corner. I listen to Vivaldi‘s four seasons often since living here in New England each season is so differentiated and individual. The winter movement stirs me in a beautiful way. And it helps me see the beauty of winter.
I am enjoying listening to each piece you provide to us here. Yes, music can help soothe our souls.
